Basic Information
Height: Height ranges based on the Body type of the horse.
-- Standard Build horses average 15hh-18hh, but it is not unknown to have 20hh-23hh Standards.
-- Pony Build horses average 8hh to 13hh. Any horse over 13hh is no longer classified as a pony build.
-- Giant Build averages 25hh to 40hh, though you can get the occasional few up to 50hh.
Face: Face should be flat, or near flat. Slight roman or dished curves are accepted, but are not as desirable as the flat face. The Roman noses are more common in the Giant builds.
Eyes: Large and semi-rounded. Should be bright, expressive and colorful. While they DO have the oblong pupils common in horses, EWH's do tend to have slightly more rounded pupils than other horses.
Mane and Tail: Very silky and strong, especially when left to grow out. It is commonly used to make clothing, rope and wraps when cleaned and cut, due to it's strong, silk like qualities.
Stance: Squared stance with a near box chest and shoulder shape. Rump should be even, or slightly higher, than withers.
Original Use: A well rounded warhorse and companion for the Elf people.
Current Use: A well rounded horse that is good in most skills. More common as War horses, Dressage, Cart pulling, Pleasure and Farm work.
Lifespan: Average over 2000 years. Unknown if they are immortal like the elves or not.
Physical Maturity: A EWH stops most of it's growing by the age of Two (2) years.
Sexual Maturity: An EWH is fully sexually mature at 10 years old. Males tend to mature faster, but they are typically not ready to breed until 10 years.
Rate of Breeding: Males can be bred at any point and rate. Mares carry foals for 11.5 months before birth, then the foal can be weaned at 6 months. It is recommended that a Mare is only bred once ever five or so years.
Mentality: The EWH is MUCH more intelligent than the average horse. They have approximately the intelligence level of a young adult human, but this can range individual to individual, and also depends on how pure their bloodline is. They can understand the languages they are raised on quite well, but cannot communicate with hominid races. This intelligence can make them easy to train, but can also make them problem horses when they are bored or do not like the people they work with.

Coat, Markings and Colors
Coat Type: The standard coat of an EWH is very similar to common horse breeds. Short, slightly stiff fur that is still soft or silky to the touch. Horses with the YAK mutation have longer, silkier hair that tends to feel more like the hair type of a normal horse's mane or tail.
Common Base Colors: At one point, it was unusual to see blacks and other dark coated horses in the breed, but that has since changed as the Breed has expanded and evolved. Now, just about every color is found in the EWH. Light based colors, such as Palomino, greys and roans, still tend to be more commonly found. Paint marks are extremely common, and tend to be favored, within the breed.
True whites are uncommon. If you have a white horse, they are normally genetically coded as extreme paints, or extreme expression of grays. The extreme expression of grays are often called "White Greys" if they appear to be pure white, or a "Graying white" if they seem to be a silver fade to white.
Mane and Tail Colors: Mane and tails are normally unaffected by the stonefur color, thus will always be the color fitting for their base coat. A Palomino horse will have a blondish mane and tail, while a Bay will have a near black mane and tail. Even in Full body Stonefur horses, the Mane and Tail sometimes are the only clue as to what that horse's true color is.
THE EXCEPTION to the rule is when a Horse has the Extended Stonefur (EXSF) Gene. This gene allows the stonefur to expand up into the mane and/or tail. When this happens, the mane/tail becomes tougher to cut, but also takes on the same color as the horse's stonefur.
Eye Color: The eyes of an EWH are commonly a shade of their Stonefur. This isn't a rule, but just the norm. You will still see horses with dark brown eyes, or blue eyes when Paints. There is very little regulation on the eye color for the breed. It is VERY un common for a horse to have any color that isn't Dark brown, Blue or matching their stonefur (Example: A ruby Palomino Paint horse should have either Brown, Blue or Red eyes, but they CAN have gold eyes).
Certain mutations cause the eyes to be different. Albino always causes the eyes to be pink or red. Carriers of Albino tend to have fairer colored eyes. Chameleon Eyes causes the eyes to change color, and so on. Make sure to pay attention to mutations.
Hooves and Hoof Color: The Hooves of an EWH are much stronger than a normal horse's hooves, and are closer to stone in hardness scale. It is not uncommon to use hoof trimmings from an EWH, or even full hooves from a deceased horse, as jewelry, decorations and even goblets.
EWH Hooves should ALWAYS be the color of their stonefur. The ONLY exception is in some Mutations, the hooves may come out as an albino-pink tone. Otherwise, the hooves will always be the color, maybe a different shade but same color, as the horses' stonefur.
Elven Writing: One of the trademarks of the Elven Warhorse, is their Elven Writing. This writing is a result of the horse being infused with pure, Elf magic. These words almost always (Exception is Dwarven Ruin mutation) come out in an elegant, Faenorian Text that is used by the Tengwar Elf race. This writing is COMMONLY written in the stonefur color, but not always. It does appear as White, or the base coat color (when on white patches or in the stonefur). Occasionally, it even appears in darker shades (like black) when found on horses that have Dark marks.
The horse needs at LEAST one full word, but the amount of words that can appear is endless.
These words ALWAYS give a peek into the horse's personality and behavior, at least at their birth.
The words can be words in the Elf text, but Common/English words, Elven words or anything from any language as long as the alphabet matches.
